English Department started its journey since the inception of the college in 1985. Thereafter, for almost ten years the Department had to teach only Pass Course (Programme) English to the students. In 1995 English Hons. was introduced in the college for advanced studies in this field with a view to increasing the students’ efficiency in English language and literature as well as to qualify themselves with merit for further studies and to establish themselves in the society for greater service to the nation. We, the experienced and energetic faculty members of the Dept., try our best to train the students with utmost capacity to bring out their inner capabilities for development of their personality and character. The Department organises National level seminars and cultural programmes to inculcate in them with the knowledge of better understanding about quality education, life, values and society, to a greater extent, humanity. For the enrichment of knowledge in the concerned subject and other spheres of study we have a Central Library that serves for the benefit of the students’ community as a whole. Apart from the Central Library we have a Departmental/Seminar Library which is quite rich in collection of text books and journals. Whenever necessary the Department also provides subjective knowledge with the help of audio-visual aids by displaying dramas and novels in the form of films for students. The Department also publishes a wall magazine regularly, named “Muse” to enhance the students’ literary skill. Therefore, our prime objective is to motivate the students to prepare themselves adequately to cope up with the present challenging situation and be equipped for rendering greater service to the nation.
